Adrenaline junkie

Have you ever heard the adrenaline junkie? It is an alias for people who are attracted to dangerous sports or activities. Every person has his own opinion about them but for me, I am a kind of person who supports the adrenaline junkie under one condition: they play the game safely.

Most of you maybe already know such extreme sport cum dangerous game such as: bungee jumping, sky-diving, rock climbing, rafting, and so on. Those activities are extremely dangerous. It is very not recommended for a person who happens to have an abnormal condition on his heart. Playing those games will give you sudden adrenaline pump to your body that makes your heart beats faster. That’s why we called them an adrenaline junkie; a person who looks for a sudden adrenaline pump.

What I support is the professional adrenaline junkie and I absolutely oppose the amateur one.

The professional one is an athlete or a person who already knows the risk and mitigates the risk thoroughly. Let’s take a look on the examples. An athlete of a rock climbing is well prepared before they go climbs. He sees the rock and makes a route plan. Before he starts to climb, he double check his equipment so he believes that his equipments are ready because he knows his life is rely on his equipments. He mitigates the risk of falling by making nodes on his hanger. So when he decides to climb, he is sure that it is safe to climb the rock. If accident happens, it is definitely an accident and anyone or anything cannot be taken into account for that.

On the contrary, there is also the amateur one. This person not only endangers himself but also other life. As an example, a reckless driver speeds up in a congested toll road. As you know, it is not safe to drive fast in that situation even you and your car is fully protected. The sloppy maneuver in the road can make an unexpected respond by other driver thus creating a fatal result at the traffic. Car accident is one of the types that are usually created by amateur adrenaline junkie. To sums up, I believe that being an adrenaline junkie is okay. As long as the junkie is not put his life or others life at stakes it is not a moral degradation to be an adrenaline junkie. So before you do anything “stupid” please be sure that it is safe to do that. Life is only once so we better not to waste it.

who am i?

This article is written about a week ago as an assignment of the IBT Preparation Class. A story about me…..

First day on IBT TOEFL preparation class, miss Lidya already gave us an assignment. She wanted us to make a simple essay.  By doing this, she just wanted to know how our writing style. No any topics given, no policies or rules given;” just write anything that you like”, she said. Ok, miss. Let me start my blabber.

My name is A@#$%^ N!@#$%^&* H)(*&. For the 23 years, I live my life follows where the flow directs me. Well, that statement is not completely true. Of course i made some decisions that i thought are the best for me. Several years ago, when I was still in high school, i had a dream of becoming an astronomist. The time to enter to college had come. Alas, instead of choosing astronomy, i choose informatics. I decided to give up astronomy and choose informatics is simply because i saw a better prospect to get a job with an engineering background. Besides, I am not that so passionate into astronomy, i just like it. So be it. I entered informatics to become engineers. Having certificate in engineering,  i continued my path as engineer by working in software consultant; until, Ministry of Finance opened a recruitment. When MOF opened recruitments for fresh graduates, I thought this is one of chances to change my path again. I am a kind of typically easily-get-bored-person with something.  We are young, we can do what we want, dont we?  Then the flow continues. And here I am, stranded in master program of economics.

Like many other people in this world, I love travelling. In domestic travelling, i am lucky enough to put my trace on Java, Sumatra, Bali, Lombok and Kalimantan. I hope someday i can go to eastern Indonesia, like Sulawesi and Papua. For the international travelling, i’ve visited some place in South East Asia, Melbourne, and the most far point is Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. A place that i want to visit most is Liverpool, to watch my lovely team live.

So, that is me. One who love travelling and live the life (hopefully) lively.

Sekelumit cerita dari malang – bromo (2)

Day 2

Petualangan dimulai tepat jam 12 malem. Gw beserta romobongan turun dari kamar ke lobi hotel, buat persiapan ke Bromo. Satu singlet, satu kaos tipis, satu jaket tebel, dan satu jaket tipis menyelimuti tubuh gw. Bawahan, standar ajah, cd sama celana panjang kargo. Perlengkapan tambahan yang gw sarung tangan sama sapu tangan.

Berangkat naek mobil yg udah disiapain sama EO. Pintu masuk ke Bromo ada 2, kalo dari barat : Wonokriti, dari timur : Cemorolawang. Berhubung gw dari barat maka mobil gw mengarah ke Wonokriti. Di sini pun rasanya ada 2 jalur mobil (ato lebih?). Satu yg aga jauh tapi relatif jalannya lebih landai dan ga berkelok kelok. Nah kebetulan gw ngambil jalur yang satu lagi, curam dan beloknya lebih patah2.

Di mobil gw duduk paling di depan. Awalnya si gw masi bisa tidur di mobil tapi tiba2 pas mo masuk jalur alternatif ini gw kebangun. Dan ternyata emang itulah start dimana jalur naik nya mulai menggila. Jalur mobil ini sangat tidak direkomendasikan buat pengemudi amatir dan juga kondisi mobil bener2 harus sehat. Rem lo ga beres, ato lampu lo ga nyala.. selamat nyemplung ke jurang. Untung aja pas waktu gw naek pemandangan aga gelap, tapi kebetulan lagi purnama si, yah.. jurang2nya aga keliatan sedikit. kekekeke…

Bagi yg mabok darat, sekali lagi saran, minumlah obat anti mabok, ato tidur sekalian. Sampai di tempat parkir mobil paling atas kalo ga salah sekitar jam setengah tiga. Altitude di HP cum GPS gw ngeliatin angka 1900an kalo ga salah. Disini banyak pedagang jualan cum tukang sewa jaket, sarung tangan, balaclava dan sejenis jenisnya. Dinginnnya menurut gw si ga terlalu lah, cuma gw make sapu tangan gw buat dijadiin masker nutupin idung sama mulut, supaya aga angetan. Anginnya juga ga kenceng sampe nusuk2 tulang, sarung tangan aja akhirnya ngga gw pake, tangan gw masukin ke kantong jaket ajah. Di tempat transit ini, semua mobil diwajibkan ganti Hard top, kalo motor si banyak yang nekat sampe penanjakan. Pun kalo Hard topnya abis, katanya si dibolehin bawa mobil pribadi (4wd) ke atas, cuma biasanya si pake driver lokal yang emang udah pengalaman.

Satu hard top isinya 5 – 6 orang. Ganti ke hard top, perjalanan pun gw lanjutin ke penanjakan (tempat ngeliat sun rise). Kondisi medan hampir sama pas waktu naik tadi, kelok2 cuma sekarang gw udah lebih feel safe soalnya supirnya dah pengalaman banget dan juga mobilnya yang 4200 cc. Nah kalo dah sampe penanjakan ini baru untung2an. Karena ga ada lahan parkir di penanjakan, maka mobil parkir ya di pinggir kanan kiri jalan naik itu. Makin malam nyampe di atas, maka jalannya makin deket ke tempat ngeliat sun rise, makin subuh, jalan kaki nya bisa ampe 2 km.  Tapi ga usah khawatir, banyak abang ojek yang udah standby kok. 😀 Sekali lagi driver2 hard top ini unjuk gigi. Tanpa adanya lokasi parkir dan tempat muter yang memadai, mereka berani dan bisa membalikkan muka mobil buat siap untuk turun nanti pagi.

Suasana di penanjakan si hampir sama kaya di kawah tangkuban perahu kali ya.. Ada tukang jualan jagung, wedang, pop mie, dkk. Tempat ngeliatan sunrisenya juga simpel aja si, kotakan ada tempat duduk nya. Pas gw kmaren kesana mah dah kaya pasar, rame banget… Nah bagi yang demen fotografi carilah spot yang paling oke buat foto anda. Di penanjakan ini ada dua jenis foto yang bisa lo ambil. Langit sunrise ato bromo kena sinar matahari pagi. Posisi keduanya bertolak belakang, jadi lo ga bisa ambil barengan.

Walaupun gw kmaren ga liat buletan matahari muncul dari ufuk nan jauh disana, kesan magis tetep kerasa banget.

Puas poto2 minum and makan jajanan anget2, jam 7 an gw beserta rombongan turun menuju ke kawahnya. Turun dari penanjakan ke dataran berpasir lebih gila lagi curam turunan sama beloknya. Supir hard top gw bilang, elevasi turunannya sampe 40 derajat. Udah gitu pake acara papasan pula sama mobil yang mau naik, ditambah lagi ada jalan yang aga.. ehm.. longsor sedikit. Again, no need to worry. Drivernya dah skill banget lah, hard topnya juga masi sehat2.

Begitu udah sampe dataran pasir, perjalanan di lanjutin ala paris dakar. Dataran berpasir, semua supir2 hard top memacu mobil dah kayak racing. Bener loh, gw ampe excited sendiri. Berasa paris dakar yang kaya di tipi2 😀 Tapi kalo dah di dataran pasir ini sebaiknya pake masker, pasirnya terbang2an soalnya. Beberapa ratus meter dari pura di Bromo, Hard top ini kemudian berhenti dan parkir. Mereka cuma nganterin sampe sini. Kalo yg mo ke pinggir kawah bisa jalan kaki, ato naek kuda Rp 100 ribu PP. Kebanyakan disini kuda poni, kecil2. Kalo yang biasa naek kuda mungkin ga terlalu was was, tapi kalo yg ga berani lumayan menegangkan. Medan nanjaknya soalnya lumayan ngeriin. Pasirnya suka gugur2 gitu. Kudanya aja kadang2 kakinya ngepot2. 😀 Kalo mo sampe pinggir kawah bukan berarti tinggal naek kuda, masih ada sekiatar 200an anak tangga yg harus di naikin buat sampe pinggir kawah. Di kawahnya sendiri si kmaren gw liat kering. Cuma ada asap menyembul dari sela2 batuan.

Selesai dari kawah bromo, gw dan rombongan ngelanjutin perjalanan ke savana. Posisinya ada di belakang kawah bromo, naek hard top tadi sekitar 20 menitan. Tanah lapang nan luas, dengan latar belakang langit biru dan hijaunya bukit. Pas banget buat poto2.

Dari savana lanjut lagi ke pasir berbisik. Hamparan pasir hitam luas dengan beberapa batu muntahan waktu bromo meletus. Silakan berpose ala Dian Sastro di film pasir berbisik disini. Selesai di pasir berbisik, wajarnya hard top2 itu kembali nganterin penumpang ke lokasi awal, cuma, berhubung kita pengen pulang lewat probolinggo karena alasan perut, mobil hard top itu nganterin kita ke cumorolawang. Turun dari cumorolawang ga seekstrim dari wonokitri

Dari cumorolawang back to Malang. Sampe malang udah sore.

Malemnya sempet ke Batu Night Spectaculer. Semacam taman ria tapi cuma buka malem hari. Di BNS ada macem2 wahana, gokart, rumah hantu, kicir2, wahana lampion, dsb. Cocok nya sih buat anak2 sama teens, orang2 tuanya bisa nunggu di Food Court. Di food court ini juga ada pertunjukan air mancur menari yang kaya di GI + permainan laser yang cukup lumayan. Permainan lightingnya di bawah sedikit, ga beda jauh2 amat lha, sama Song of The Sea nya punya P. Sentosa, Singapura. Cuma yang di BNS belum bisa nyiptain layar halus dari butiran air, sama gambarnya masi standard lah, blom ada cerita kaya di Singapur tapi…. sangat nasionalis. Kmaren soalnya lagu pengiringnya lagu perjuangan. 😀

Day 3

Bermodal travel seratus ribu, gw balik dari malang balik ke jogja. Berangkat dari malang jam 8 sampe jogja jam 5. Another road trip, another sight seeing, another adrenaline rush! :D. Oiya, seratus ribu itu travel point to point (bebas dimana mo dijemput dan diantar) dan juga udah termasuk makan siang!

Ah negeriku, ternyata dirimu punya banyak sudut lain yang belum ku eksplor.
